At Yosemite National Park

We were lifelong residents of Massachusetts until Richard’s employer picked us up and planted us in Texas.

We are often on the road, traveling between Texas and Massachusetts. Living in the Dallas Fort Worth area has also presented many opportunities to explore the western United States. I am the travel planner.

The beauty and variety of stories and scenes that we encounter as we travel the US has re-ignited my interest in photography. As the camera that I always have with me, my phone is the source of many of my photos. Although the phone often achieves impressive results, sometimes more control is necessary.

I am currently shooting Sony Alpha 9 iii and Sony Alpha 7 iii infrared-modified mirrorless cameras. My main lens is a Sony FE 28-70mm F2 GM. For infrared shooting, I use a Sony FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 Full-Frame Compact Zoom lens.

While Richard’s gear fills many bags, I am able to fit both of my cameras and 2 lenses into a small shoulder bag that might be expected to accommodate a single camera. The combination of lighter cameras and smaller bag, makes it much easier for either of my advanced cameras to be “the camera that I have with me.”

To Richard’s dismay, haven’t read the Sony’s manual. I have never read a camera manual. If I feel the need for more information, I look it up!

As a retired software engineer who is also an attorney, I am also interested in exploring the application and impacts of AI in the fields of photography and digital design.
