The process of creating or enhancing the illusion of depth by presenting two different offset images to the left and right eye of the viewer.

Three techniques enable the viewer to see the three dimensional effect:

  • Eyeglasses
  • Use of the light source to direct the image to each eye (autostereoscopy)
  • Freeviewing (must be learned by the viewer)
