Focal length

The distance from the middle of a lens to its focal point.

FocalLengthEC

How focal length relates to the “magnification” of the image captured depends upon the size of the area that is used to capture the image. The smaller the sensor the greater the magification of the lens. This is why a focal length multiplier or crop factor is often used to facilitate comparisons among different camera and lens combinations.
